Hi, I'm Rhoda

You move abroad with your partner, next thing you know, they are on a plane to somewhere for work. And they just keep on travelling...

You face a unique set of challenges.

I get it. I've lived it for over 16 years, I'm researching it through interviews with families and therapists.

I'm speaking about it. It's high time life with traveling partners is spoken about in its own right rather than as an afterthought.

Organisations who send staff on non-family postings are wising up to the solo parenting of the non-travelling partner and want to support. If you are an organisation, you can invite me to speak on this topic here

My Story

I am the founder of A Multicultural Life, a certified coach for accompanying spouses with travelling partners and the author of the book “Holding the Fort Abroad”.

I was raised in France, with a Welsh dad, a Syrian Armenian mum and am married to a Swiss. My husband has traveled abroad for work throughout almost our whole marriage. During those years, I have been solo-parenting and experimenting various ways to hold the fort while creating a joint life in a long distance relationship.

Along the way, I realised the huge number of men and women around the world who experienced the same challenges but with no resources to guide them through this journey. This led me to run extensive research, share my learnings through the book, Holding The Ford Abroad, and develop my coaching services.

I speak about the challenges of solo parenting and how to thrive in multicultural marriages. I have been featured in various platforms such as Families in Global Transition, Coffee with Expat Women, Ute’s international lounge, Tandem Nomads and the Big Purple Blob and I run courses for organisations such as the World Bank Group Family Network.
